The Solar Guys was founded by John Teel & Marilyn Jamison in 2001 in response to the rapid demand for quality, innovative natural day lighting products, and Solatube® was the obvious choice. Since 2001 The Solar Guys has grown from a small home based company to largest Solatube® dealer in the United States. Our territory originally included Alachua, Marion, Citrus, Lake and Sumter counties.
Chris Teel acquired minority ownership once again reaffirming our belief of keeping the “family” in family business. Chris currently qualifies The Solar Guys with both a Florida Certified Building Contractor License (CBC1260615), Certified Roofing Contractor License (CCC1330841), & Certified Solar License (CVC57042).
In November 2015 The Solar Guys added the Jacksonville market including: St. Johns, Putnam, Clay, Bradford, Union, Columbia, Baker, Duval, Nassau & S.E. Georgia.

The Solar Guys started our insulation division initially offering water heater wraps and garage door insulation. This quickly grew to whole house radiant barrier and blown-in attic insulation.
The Solar Guys acquired exclusive marketing rights for the sale and installation of Huper Optik™ window film in Marion, Lake, and Sumter counties.
The Solar Guys acquired the Orlando market as part of our service area. This included Volusia, Flagler, Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties.
